Abdij

Abdij (Dutch language), an autonomous monastic community for men or women, led bya abt (men) or abdis (women). Abdij generally consist of a park surrounded by amonastery. Church is the center of all buildings. The whole building surrounded bywalls.

In an environment such as the Roman Catholic Church there are the monasteries of the Benedictine Order, Cistercienser, Kartuiser.
